Young Design Studio is a full service architectural practice based in Lakewood, Ohio. We bring strong design principles and a collaborative, intuitive design process to every project. The YDS team values working on a wide variety of project scales: from home renovations and additions, to urban design masterplanning and everything in between. Our collective experience encompasses residential new construction and renovation, multifamily development, corporate office, retail, hospitality, higher education and masterplanning at some of the region’s top design firms. We believe this breadth of experience gives us the ability to find creative solutions and develop unique designs for our projects.
We take a client focused approach to design; we enjoy working with our clients to achieve the best solution every project, regardless of scale or budget.
Who we are
Young Design Studio is comprised of principles Brandon and Magdalina (Maggie) Young, licensed and insured Architects with over 25 years of professional experience. Now a married couple, Brandon and Maggie met in the undergrad architecture program at Kent State University, they moved to Lakewood together and completed their Masters at Architecture and Urban Design at the Cleveland Urban Design Collaborative. After 10+ years working in local design firms on projects in Cleveland and beyond, Brandon founded YDS in 2021, with Maggie joining the team in 2023.
Brandon and Maggie have a passion for historic homes and have taken a hands-on approach to restoring and renovating together since 2013. In their free time, they love to find inspiration from their travels around the world, and find a few peaceful moments sailing Lake Erie with their daughters.

Brandon Young
Principal Owner
Brandon founded Young Design Studio in 2021 after more than a decade working with local design firms on projects in Cleveland and beyond. He studied architecture at Kent State University and completed graduate studies at the Cleveland Urban Design Collaborative.
At YDS, Brandon’s primary focus is housing, multifamily development and the historic renovation of existing buildings. His work connects architectural design with the broader considerations of development and urban design.
Magdalina (Maggie) Young
Principal Owner
Maggie joined Young Design Studio in 2023 after over a decade working in top design firms in the area. With a background focused on higher education, corporate office, bars, restaurants and breweries, Maggie expanded and continues to lead the practice’s commercial projects
Over the years, Maggie has developed expertise in historic renovation and adaptive reuse projects. She has a passion for helping business owners celebrate the unique features of their historic buildings, and make the most out of their budgets. She enjoys working to create a complete cohesive design from exterior design and signage to interior materials and furnishings.
